Problem
The idea was born out of observation of local areas. We wanted our neighbourhoods to be Limpio meaning clean or pure in Spanish.
The main problem we were trying to solve was that users lack motivation, guidance, and entertainment in the process of picking up the litter.
Engaging a 5-person team (Natalia, Weronika, Wiktoria, Michał, Bartosz) during our User Experience Design postgraduate studies at SWPS University in Wrocław, we performed in-depth interviews with users who had experience in participating in litter cleanup events. These participants were recruited from pro-ecological Facebook groups associated with Polish cities.
Solution
As it turned out, the solution emerged as supporting and enhancing the litter cleanup process. We crafted a prototype of the app providing comprehensive support at every stage: organizing group gatherings, sending event reminders, marking trash locations with pins, facilitating communication with city services during the event, and summarizing progress afterward.
The prototype, created in Figma, was later exported to Axure for advanced interactions. Opting for Android, the preferred system among our respondents, the app covers essential aspects; however, there's an opportunity for improvement in the gamification aspect, and exploring social and entertaining features could elevate the user experience for greater engagement.
